It was a makeshift restaurant in the bowels of the Horden Pavilion Sydney, 15 years ago where Rob D’Orazio sat with his good friend and chef Chris Stubbs. That night Backstage Chef was born. As Deep Purple played their set to 4500 fans, Chris was cooking up a feast for the band to enjoy at the end of the gig. He had turned an average storeroom into a five star pop up restaurant. Rob said – This is a TV show!!
We are filming Backstage Chef. It takes you behind the stage curtain, into a world rarely seen by outsiders. A world where only Artists, musicians, management and touring personal gather to bring the fans two and a half hours of fantasy. Rob has been in the entertainment business for over 30 years and in that time has developed relationships and earned the respect of his peers. Chris has been cooking for the likes of Neil Diamond, Fleetwood Mac, Cold Chisel, Rolling Stones for the same amount time. Sam Conti has looked after the Melbourne side of the Artists requirements. Together they will entertain you; you will get AAA access into venues right across Australia including access into the dressing rooms, kitchens and backstage area for a birds eye view of what really goes on back there. You will go on a journey with these guys from the moment the Artists requirements are received by the chefs through to showtime – which can take months. A real adventure! Must see TV.
